About

Matt Emmett is a global R&D executive working across AI platforms, enterprise automation, service delivery, and software engineering.

I build the platforms, knowledge layers, and operating models that help enterprise companies turn AI into real operating leverage.

As VP, Global R&D at Syntax, I lead work across AI platforms, enterprise automation, AI in managed service delivery, and agentic software engineering. My scope spans the tooling employees and agents use, the integration and knowledge layers that let them act across enterprise systems, and the operating practices that help teams adopt AI without losing governance, engineering discipline, or delivery control.

My current focus is the company-wide transition to agentic software engineering: how teams specify, build, review, govern, measure, and deliver software when agents are part of the system. That includes an Agentic SDLC Maturity Rubric, Complexity Weighted Throughput, and Eng-Insights, a platform for measuring engineering effectiveness across teams and divisions.

The path here started with building an internal software development function from zero, scaling a global DevOps R&D organization, and deploying automation across private datacenters and public clouds. It later expanded into enterprise GenAI platforms, multi-cloud integration, and applying AI to managed service delivery.

Alongside my civilian career, I served for 21 years in the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard, retiring as a Technical Sergeant after work in Cyber Transport and Combat Communications.
